At Rival Performance, our Smoke Test is one of the quickest and most effective ways to identify hidden issues within your engine system.
We introduce a safe, non-harmful smoke into the intake system under controlled pressure. This allows us to clearly see any leaks that wouldn’t normally be visible during standard checks.
A smoke test can highlight:
• Boost leaks (very common on turbo cars)
• Vacuum leaks
• Split or loose pipework
• Faulty seals or gaskets
• PCV / breather system issues
Even small leaks can cause a range of problems including loss of power, poor fuel trims, inconsistent boost, and drivability issues. These are the sort of things you’ll feel in the car but can be difficult to pinpoint without proper testing.
On tuned or modified vehicles, a smoke test is even more important. One small leak can throw everything off, especially when you’re running higher boost or upgraded hardware.
This test allows us to quickly and accurately locate the source of any leak so it can be resolved properly, rather than guessing or replacing parts unnecessarily.
If something doesn’t feel right with the car, this is one of the first checks we’ll carry out to get a clear answer fast.

Unused items can be returned within 14 days of delivery for a refund or exchange, provided they’re in original packaging and resellable condition.
Some products may be subject to a restocking or processing fee, and custom or made-to-order items (such as brake lines, custom colours, or special builds) can’t be cancelled or refunded once production begins.

Most products include a 12-month manufacturer warranty, and we’ll always help guide you through the process if something goes wrong.
