How to Bed-in ENDLESS Brake Pads:

This process requires the brake discs to be brand new, if not then make sure the brake discs are clean and free from previous brake pad friction materials. Once ready, perform 8 to 10 medium-hard stops (60–80% pedal pressure) from 62MPH down to 14MPH over 3 to 5 seconds each time. Avoid activation of the ABS and never come to a complete stop during the cycles. You want to bring the brake disc temperatures to roughly 350°C - 450°C, then drive normally without heavy braking to let them cool completely to ambient temperature.

  • Initial Seating - drive normally for a short period or a couple of days to let the physical faces seat mechanically.
  • Temperature Build-up - accelerate to 62MPH safely on a clear road.
  • Controlled Slowdowns - apply 60–80% pedal pressure smoothly to drop speed to 14MPH (taking 3-5 seconds per stop).
  • Repetition - complete 8 to 10 successive slowdowns without stopping the car or engaging the ABS, allowing airflow cooling between events.
  • Cool Down: Drive normally without using the brakes or pulling the handbrake until the system cools fully below 100°C. Inspect the brake discs for a smooth, even brake pad transfer layer.

If possible, perform the bedding in process on the track during a warm-up session or a dedicated practice slot rather than on public roads.

Track-Specific Adjustments:

  • Patience - do not rush the process; the compound requires progressive heat to properly bond with the rotor face.
  • Higher Targets - aim for the upper limit of the temperature range (near 450°C) to simulate track demands.
  • Pit Lane Rules - when returning to the pits after the bedding run, never apply the handbrake or keep your foot on the brake pedal while stationary, as this will imprint the pad material and ruin the rotor face.
  • Complete Thermal Cycle - allow the brakes to cool completely to ambient temperature in the paddock before your first hot session.

Final Visual Check:

  • Good Transfer - The brake disc face should exhibit a uniform, dull grey or slightly discoloured layer across the entire contact patch.
  • Bad Transfer - There will be bright spots, black spots, or smeared "smudge" marks indicating uneven brake pad transfer or glazing, requiring you to lightly scuff the rotors and restart.
